Whale, Dolphins & Basking Sharks
2012 April 16th: Basking Shark spotted in the South Harbour at 8.30am. Weather is overcast so we were inside the hostel at the time and spotted it from the lounge - the picture below shows the view with the shark as a black dot in the right hand pane - a poor photo but you get the idea. We all rushed outside for a closer view, what a treat! The arrival of Basking Sharks in South Harbour is always keenly anticipated and creates a sense of wellbeing (I can't say why, it is simply so!)
